Store History
Perri Jewelers is a family owned and operated jewelry store located in downtown Tucson, Arizona. It is located at 13 North Stone Avenue. Stephen Perri has recently taken over ownership from his father, Simon Perri. Simon Perri owned and operated Perri Jewelers since 1957. His brother, Peter started the business in 1945 and was open until 1955. Peter was a watchmaker by trade and his reputation for skilled watch repair was known throughout Tucson. Simon reopened the store on November 14, 1957 as sole owner and operator. When Peter opened the first Perri Jewelers in 1945, the store was located at 129 1/2 W. Congress Street. The store was moved to 37 W. Congress Street in 1963. The business has recently moved to 13 North Stone Avenue.
Simon Perri was by trade a hand engraver. He learned his trade in Los Angeles and has lived and worked in Tucson since 1957. Mr. Perri was one of only a few hand engravers working in the city of Tucson. His craft is respected and admired by the thousands of satisfied customers he has served during his many years in Tucson.

Perri Jewelers is the only jewelry store remaining in downtown Tucson. At one time, there were as many as six retail jewelry stores in the area. Downtown Tucson has undergone many changes over the years. The Fox Theater has gone from a thriving movie palace to an abandoned landmark to a revitalized piece of Tucson history. The downtown area is currently experiencing a renaissance of sorts with the Rio Nuevo project in the works and new construction projects already beginning. Through it all, Perri Jewelers has remained a fixture in the downtown business community.
The new location at 13 North Stone is much smaller, but the tradition of service and honesty that Simon Perri established in his many years in business is still the top priority. The new location still houses the same engraving bench used by Mr. Perri and the original neon sign from the original Perri Jewelers in 1945. As well, the vintage 1927 cash register still rings with every transaction as it has for over 60 years.
Perri Jewelers has survived for over five decades not because of flashy television and radio commercials or an impressive new building, but because of Mr. Perri's commitment to providing quality merchandise and service at competitive prices. Simple word-of-mouth advertising has kept us in business from the beginning. Perri Jewelers has served generations of Tucsonans, and the children and grandchildren of customers keep coming back year after year. We are proud to be part of the Downtown Tucson business community. Thank you for your patronage.
